How to turn receipts into one PDF — in 4 steps
Expense reports, research budgets and tax filings often ask for the receipts as a single PDF, sometimes with several receipts on each A4 sheet. SlimIO lays the pages out for you, in your browser, so the receipts are never uploaded.
- 1. Add the receipt photos. Drop in JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC files, or click to browse.
- 2. Put them in order. Use the arrows, or sort by file name or file date.
- 3. Choose the layout. Pick 1, 2, 4 or 6 receipts per page, numbering, a cover page, and a size limit if the form has one.
- 4. Make the PDF. Download it and attach it to your report or upload form.
Several receipts per A4 page
Many offices want receipts attached to A4 sheets rather than one photo per page. Pick 2, 4 or 6 per page and SlimIO chooses the arrangement that draws the receipts largest: long, narrow till receipts stand side by side, wide ones go one above the other. Each photo is first cut down to the receipt itself, so the table around it doesn't take up the space. Each receipt gets a thin frame and, if you like, a number in the corner.
A cover page with a list and total
Tick Add a cover page and type the date, store and amount for each receipt. The first page becomes a table whose numbers match the numbers on the receipts, with the total at the bottom. SlimIO does not read the receipts automatically, so you decide exactly what the table says.
Under 5MB, 10MB or 20MB
Phone photos are several megabytes each, so a stack of receipts quickly passes an upload limit. Choose the limit under PDF size limit, or type any size with Custom limit. The pages are saved again at a lower JPG quality first and then at a smaller size until the whole PDF fits, and the result tells you what was done. If it still cannot fit, it says so and gives the smallest file it could make.
Clearer faded receipts
Thermal paper fades to light grey. Make faded text clearer turns each receipt to black and white and stretches its brightness so the print is dark and the paper white. Photograph the receipt flat, from straight above, in even light, and keep your finger and shadows out of the picture.
Tips
- Photograph receipts on a darker surface: each one is then cut out of its photo automatically. On a white table, crop the photo in your phone's editor first — the larger the receipt fills its photo, the larger it prints.
- Name the photos in order, such as 01, 02, 03, and use Sort by file name.
- iPhone HEIC photos copied to a computer work as they are — no need to convert them to JPG first.
- Need to merge PDFs you already have? Use Merge PDF, or compress a PDF that is too large.
