How to make a US visa photo for the DS-160
- 1. Add a photo. US visa 600×600 and a 240KB limit are already selected.
- 2. Line it up. Drag the green frame so your head fills the dashed oval and your eyes sit between the two dotted lines.
- 3. Click Compress images and download. You get a square JPEG, 600×600 px, under 240KB, ready to upload.

What SlimIO does — and doesn't do
It crops, resizes and compresses. It doesn't retouch your face or change the background, which the rules don't allow anyway. So take the photo against a white wall, face the camera straight on, with even light and no shadows.
Printing a 2×2 inch photo?
600×600 pixels printed at 300 dpi is exactly 2×2 inches (51×51 mm), the printed size used for US visa and passport photos.
