How to resize an ID or passport photo
- 0. Paste the rules (optional). Copy the photo instructions from your form into the box above the photo area — the pixel size, KB range and format are set for you.
- 1. Add your photo. Without pasted rules, the ID photo 3×4 cm preset and a 100KB target are selected.
- 2. Match the form. Switch Resize to Passport photo 3.5×4.5 cm if needed, and pick the KB limit the form states (for example 50KB or 20KB).
- 3. Adjust the frame. Drag the green frame onto your face and zoom until your head fills the dashed guide.
- 4. Download. The photo is cropped, scaled and compressed as soon as you add it, and again whenever you move the frame or change a setting. The result shows its pixels and KB.

- 3×4 cm → 354×472px. Common on résumés, job and exam applications.
- 3.5×4.5 cm → 413×531px. The usual passport-size photo, also used for many ID cards and visa forms.
Both are 300 dpi — sharp enough to print at the stated size. Always check the exact size and KB range in the form's instructions; they differ from site to site.
Form asks for exact pixels?
Some forms state the photo in pixels instead — for example 150×200px or 200×230px. The quickest way is to paste the form's sentence (“Photo 200 x 230 pixels, 20 KB to 50 KB, JPG”) into the box at the top: SlimIO reads the width, height, KB range and format and shows what it set. Or choose Custom size in pixels under Resize and type the width and height. Move the frame onto your face, and the photo is cropped to that shape and saved at exactly that size, under your KB limit.
Getting a good crop
Take the photo straight on against a plain, light background — it doesn't matter where you are in the frame, because you place the crop yourself. Most rules want the head (top of the hair to the chin) to fill roughly 70% of the photo's height, with a little space above; the dashed oval shows about that size.
Safe to submit
Everything happens in your browser — the photo is never uploaded. Location and camera data (EXIF) are removed when the photo is saved again.
